Benefits and harms of dates

 





 Russian nutrition expert Dr. Angelica Duval revealed that dates are a beneficial food, but excessive consumption of them leads to weight gain.  Pointing out that dates are a useful substance, but this depends on their quantity and quality, so she explains how to choose dates and eat them.  Dates are rich in dietary fiber, which benefits the intestines and its microbiome, and also improves sleep and skin condition.  She explained, “Dates contain a high percentage of silicon, which stimulates the process of producing collagen necessary for the skin.  It also contains a good percentage of chromium, which enhances insulin function and regulates blood glucose levels.  In addition, it contains the amino acid tryptophan, which positively affects mood and is beneficial for those who suffer from sleep problems,” according to what was published by the Russian “Novosti” news agency.

 The Russian expert explains that “dates contain high calories, making them an important source of energy.”  However, increasing it in the diet leads to weight gain.  “It also contains a high percentage of sugar, so in certain circumstances it can complicate the functioning of the digestive system.”  She emphasized, “It is better to eat dates alone or with fruits and vegetables so that they digest naturally and do not remain in any part of the digestive system and do not cause gas formation.”  Therefore, I advise eating 3-4 dates daily, preferably in the first half of the day.  Because when you eat it before bed, the sugar will continue to be digested throughout the night, and this puts a burden on the digestive system.”
